This October, the Del-York Creative Academy will host its biggest training program yet, to inspire a select few from Africa who will be the beacon of hope and change in this era.
Del-York Creative Academy is an annual programme originally inaugurated in 2010, partnering with award winning instructors from Hollywood for an intensive month-long workshop to provide young African prodigies with the skills required for working in today’s film industry, and has since witnessed the successful training of over 1000 students.
Film and media are the most powerful tools we can use to rewrite the narrative about our continent, to reflect a more positive image about our rich and diverse culture. Our goal is to equip the African youth; a new generation of filmmakers and storytellers who will create memorable and generation-inspiring visual executions and productions; to tell new stories that sell our essence, spirit and rich culture.
For the 2018 edition, 500 of the most talented individuals from around Africa will be selected to partake in this historic capacity building experience.
This edition will include a remote learning experience where digital classes can be accessed online for those who don’t make it into the actual academy. Del-York Creative Academy has remained true to its ethos from the very beginning;
“Capacity Building” to foster “Nation Building”.
For all those who believe not only in themselves but in the creative future and the promise of the African continent; Let us change the narrative together.
